One extended journey circling Australia has been cancelled days after the death of an senior woman who was left behind by the cruise liner on a distant island.

Suzanne Rees had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The vessel left without her and went back later that day after the personnel discovered the passenger was not present.

A large-scale hunt found her remains the following day.

Authorities are looking into the event, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that passengers and personnel on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".
